Good Book with the right Teacher

This book is quite good as an introduction to linear algebra with a nice mix of proofs and computational exercise. It has two main fault both of which can be corrected by a good teacher. The first is the horrible graphics (everything is in shades of gray and blue) that make it very hard to use them to supplement the text. The second is that in some sections they use non-standard notation for certain items and without a teacher to explain this you will not be able to understand what they are trying to say.

What Bodybuilding Is

This engrossing documentary/commentary of bodybuilding is the Bible of what bodybuilding IS. It does not drown you with technical detail, nor attempt to teach you HOW to bodybuild. What it does is bring you inside the gyms, (where the competitors work out) the arenas (where they compete) and inside their minds, where the peculiar and fascinating drive for the physical ideal finds its germination, growth and finally fruit on the posing platform. Why they do what they do, and just a smattering of detail of the equipment they use to accomplish their ends, rounds out this book. It is centered around a not-then-well-known Arnold Schwarzeneggar in his quest for the ultimate bodybuilding title, the Mr. Olympia. A few other competitors are also featured along with their quest for physical perfection and recognition of that by the bodybuilding contest judges. The well-placed and very informative pictures of the athletes at work in the gym, at play and in competition were a constant source of fascination to me as a teenaged boy, and I spent uncounted hours slowly flipping through the pages and examining every detail of what I thought a physique SHOULD look like. If you have ever been mildly curious of what essence makes men into bodybuilders, or have wondered WHY they do this, this book is for you. I recommend it very highly, and would probably be flipping through it right now if I had it, so inexhaustible is its supply of interesting information!

An ideal text for those modeling with Excell

This text is a softcover, even though at this time Amazon still lists it as a thin hardcover. It is written on the same level as Giordano, Wier and Fox's Mathematical Modelling, but focuses directly on the use of Microsoft's Excell. I am one of the many annoyed with Microsoft, but since Excell is ubiquitious, it makes a reasonable choice for a course. The book is very visual showing, for example, how to use Excell to draw Feigenbaum diagrams to illustrate chaos, how to illustrating Newton's method (drawing the tangent lines...), drawing Bezier curves for smoothing... It points out many of Excell's useful features (some have found just learning how to add scrollbars useful).

Helpful and Humble

'Celebrity Psychic' books can seem lofty to those wanting to pursue their own development. Do you want a book that will impress you? Or a book that will help you? Both have their place. The helpful books can be harder to find, though.
This book is written with so little ego that it's sincerity shines. It is an extraordinarily practical summary of technique. It is also a reassuring reach-out to 'reluctant psychics' who are encountering their own doubts.
Extraordinary value, even if it were twice the price! Glad I purchased it. (Also useful as a basic reference book).

Until reading this book, I had never found a resource about spiritual gifts/abilities that provided so much accessibility and true inspiration to bravely face that quiet part of ourselves and our lives that society so rarely addresses. This is beyond a manual. For me, this was like finally finding a friend that "gets it," not only encouraging the reader to believe in him/herself but reaffirming much of that internal self that so many of us learn to doubt early on in childhood. This book re-awakens what the world had taught us to suppress, offering invaluable guidance through a topic so few are willing to tackle head on.

This is a must read for anyone who has started down his/her own psychic path. Lorraine mixes humor and her own experiences in a focused yet calming way. I highly recommend this book as a tool to help guide you down you own psychic path. I know I will be remembering her words as I skip down my own path!

Sibling affection

A classic that everyone should read

I first read this when I was twelve. The manuscript had been smuggled out of the Soviet Union and published in the U.S. It caused a sensation around the world. The description of a day in the life of Russian prisoners in Siberia through the eyes of an inmate who was also a gifted writer shocked the West. Being sentenced to Siberia had been discussed in an almost abstract way until the,first person narrative of Solzhenitsyn exposed the cruel reality of life as a political prisoner in Khrushchev's Russia. Much dissembling from the Kremlin followed by Communist sympathizers worldwide disavowng this could be true. But it was. This short book was so moving you couldn't stop reading. It was the first shot by Solzhenitsyn but so much more to come. Every freedom loving citizen should read it.

Silver is shiny & good!

Juniper Leigh has a way of writing a hero with just the right amount of alpha to take charge in the most respectful way! Danovan tel'Darian the silver alien was so hot, yummy, big (yep she writes 'em big with big everything! Lol! Including his heart...) It's amazing because the females within her stories are strong & powerful women who seem to get caught in the weirdest situations! Mix those ideas with strong world-building & you have a great read! Her epilogues always leave you wanting more & hopefully that's what she'll give us. Dr. Araceli Cross isn't finished with her work. Not by a long shot! Thanks Juniper for a wonderfully, HOT, tender, funny story! This was given as an ARC for an honest review & believe me it was my pleasure...now, I will be waiting impatiently for the next one.

I received this book in exchange for a honest review.

When it started off, I thought it was a little stilted and slow, but it kept picking up the longer you read. I realize that it was that way, so you could not missing seeing all the sub plots that were happening. There was nothing mindblowing, but it kept your interest, well written, and was enjoyable till the last page with all the twists and turns. I would buy the next book in the series as soon as it comes out. I think this series is going to get better and better as it continues.

Two great sci fi adventures!

The edition I purchased has a bonus book, Alien Alpha, which is equally good, if not better, than the titled book. Both are standalones, with different settings and characters, and can be read in any order. Each has an HEA.
Alien Survivor: Dr. Araceli Cross, a pediatric geneticist and head of a research project for GenOriens, has traveled to Galatea to begin implementing laboratory cross-breeding of humans and Galateans. When their orbiting spaceship is attacked, her fiance's bodyguard, Galatean Danovan Tel Darian, gets her to an escape pod which takes them to the surface. There, they watch the spaceship fall to Galatea and explode. Danovan and Ara then begin a journey to get help and answers and find nothing is as Ara was led to believe, turning her research and her life upside down.
Alien Alpha: Novalyn, a New York mythology major and waitress, gets a call from a match on an online dating service asking to meet. After a few days of casual dating, she awakens on a spaceship. She is then placed in a personal pod bound for a primitive planet by a mysterious group called the Echelon. After landing, she is released from the pod by a very large, humanoid man with a ram like horn on one side of his head who doesn't speak English. Living in exile, Odrik is a banished Quetesh warrior, displaced from his role as chieftain of his tribe. When he spots the pod and releases the woman inside he believes he has been given a gift, except she won't stop screaming. And the days to come will be a challenge for both of them. These books rate 4.5 stars
