'Olivia Brannigan. Blake Clayton?'

Continuing to rehearse below her breath, she tugged firmly on her jacket as she walked up the path. 'I represent Wagner, Liebstrahm, Barker and DeLuise, and…:

It was what came after the 'and' she was struggling with most. Informing him of a legacy was one thing, breaking the news that came with it was another, even if the news was several weeks old. But the man would have to live in a cave to have avoided hearing about it and they couldn't have been that close—not when it had taken so long to find him.

The Stars And Stripes hanging from the porch fluttered gently in a welcome hint of air movement as she took a deep breath and pressed the buzzer.

'I regret to have to inform you…'

She hated that line. Last time she'd made a death notification it had been more than difficult: It had been the final act in a series of events that altered the course of her life.

When the door swung open, a heavy-set man holding a half-eaten hamburger looked her over from head to toe. 'Mr Clayton?' 'Yo, Blake!' he yelled. 'What?' a voice yelled in answer.

'Anyone suing you?' 'Not this week.'

'Guess you can come in then.' The man grinned, issuing an invitation with a jerk of his head.

Following him down the hallway, Olivia's heels clicked in an even, businesslike rhythm while she focused on their destination and the man she would discover when she got there. In a matter of seconds he would be a living, breathing person instead of someone she'd spent entirely too much time trying to picture in her mind while she was searching for him. She wouldn't have to imagine what he looked like or wonder how he was going to react.

The mystery would be solved.

Anticipation built with each step as she prepared for the disappointment of reality when compared to the uncharacteristic flights of fantasy she'd been engaged in of late. There was just something about this case that got to her, and with her track record when it came to emotional involvement in the workplace, that wasn't good.

The sooner she wrapped it up, the better.

The room she walked into was in a chaotic state of construction. There were four men in it: two chewing hamburgers, one hunkered down sanding a door-frame and another by large windows covered in opaque plastic. Since the man by the windows was looking at her, she approached him and held out a hand. 'Mr Clayton, I'm Olivia Brannigan from—'

'Over here, sweetheart.' A deep, rough-edged voice drew her gaze to the man sanding the door-frame.

'You're Blake Clayton?' She turned around. Considering how long it had taken to find him, she had to be sure. 'Blake Anders Clayton.'

There was a snort of laughter behind her.

'Thanks for that.' He shook his head, dropping his chin and lifting a hand to remove the dust mask from his face as he stood up. 'So what'd I do this time?'

Opening her mouth to set his mind at ease, anything resembling coherent thought scrambled when he set the mask aside and looked directly at her. The room contracted; it was suddenly smaller and tighter and felt as if all the oxygen had been sucked out of it. Everything in her peripheral vision blurred as her gaze locked on him and doggedly refused to let go. But who could blame a girl for staring?

A little heads-up on how he looked might have helped.

Six foot two, possibly three, lean at the waist, broad at the shoulders, with short spikes of unruly chocolate-brown hair and dark eyes that sparkled with more than a hint of the guy a girl's mother would warn her about; Blake Clayton was the living, breathing definition of seriously smokin' hot.

When her gaze dropped briefly to the jut of a full lower lip that begged for immediate, audience-be-damned attention, Olivia ran her tongue over her teeth. Would he taste as good as he looked? She'd just bet he did.

The woman inside her purred appreciatively. The professional forced a businesslike tone to her voice. 'I represent the legal firm of Wagner, Liebstrahm, Barker and DeLuise, and—'

'Bet that's a bitch to put on a business card.' A corner of his mouth hitched with amusement.

The woman sighed contentedly while the professional frowned at how difficult it was to focus. Her flights of fantasy had fallen woefully short of reality.

'Is there somewhere we could talk?'

'We're talking now.'

'Mr Clayton, I'm afraid I have bad news,' she announced more bluntly than she'd intended.

'I heard,' he said tightly, the change in him immediate.

Her voice softened 'I'm sorry for your loss.'

'Don't be.' Stepping past her to lift a mug from a worktop, he sat down beside one of the men eating lunch, spreading long, jeans-clad legs while tipping the rim of the mug to his mouth. 'We done?'

Glancing at their audience, she found them watching her like some kind of floor show. Surely he didn't want to—

'You can say whatever you have to say in front of them,' he added as if he'd read her mind.

Considering her thoughts since she'd laid eyes on him, Olivia sincerely hoped he hadn't.

'No secrets among friends,' the man who'd answered the door added. 'Offer us the right money, we could tell you enough to get him arrested in a half-dozen states.'

'And Canada,' added a chorus of voices.

'You got something you need me to sign, hand it over,' Blake said over the sound of laughter. 'You can mail whatever memento I've got coming my way.'

'I'm afraid I can't do that,' Olivia replied patiently. 'You're the sole beneficiary. He left everything to you.'

'Everything?'

'Yes.'

'All of it?'

'Yes.' She nodded. He obviously hadn't known. Not that the flat tone to his deep voice gave any indication he was happy with the news. The majority of people would have been turning cartwheels.

'There's no one else?'

Confused by the question after her use of the term 'sole beneficiary', she shook her head. 'No.' Thanks to Charles Warren's will, his son was one of the richest, most powerful men in America. 'I know it must seem daunting to take on the responsibility of—'

'Such a great legacy?' A dark brow lifted. 'Wrong tactic, Miss—what did you say your name was again?'

'Brannigan.' She tried not to be piqued by the fact he hadn't remembered. 'Olivia Brannigan.'

'Well, Liv—' he leaned forward '—someone should probably have warned you: I don't give a rat's ass how great a legacy it is. I don't want it.'

Was he insane?

'I understand you need time to process everything, b—'

'There's nothing to process.' Setting his mug down, he pushed to his feet. 'What I need is to get this job done.'

As she faltered, he walked past her and picked up his tools. She'd never been in such a surreal situation. What did he expect her to do? Go back to the office, walk up to her boss and say, Sorry, no go, we have to find someone else we can give billions of dollars' worth ofproperty and assets to? They could hold a raffle.

When she didn't move, he glanced at her from the corner of his eye. 'Am I supposed to tip you?'

Seriously?

The professional stepped forward and smiled smoothly. 'I don't think you understand, Mr Clayton. Allow me to make it clear: you're it. Whether you want it or not, you're the sole beneficiary of Charles Warren's will.'

The Charles Warren?' an incredulous voice asked behind her.

'Your father made his wishes very clear.'

'Father?' said the same incredulous voice. 'You're kidding me, right?'

So much for no secrets between friends.

He took a step forward and lowered his voice. 'Look, lady, I get that you're trying to do your job but, in case you didn't get it, allow me to make it clear: I'm not your man. So unless you're planning on setting down that briefcase and picking up a power tool, I suggest you hightail it back to Manhattan and tell Wagner, Liebstrahm, Barker and DeLuise—or whoever it is you answer to further down the food chain—they best find a distant Warren relative they can lay this on. I have a life. I'm not living someone else's.'

'This isn't going anywhere,' she insisted with a deceptive calmness that masked the effect his proximity was having on her body.

'Maybe not,' he allowed. 'But I can.'

What about the life he'd said he had? Olivia found herself wondering if there was a woman in it; one who would miss him when he was gone. Somehow she doubted he was the type to stick around long enough to let anyone get that close. Judging by the number of addresses she'd discovered in various different states—some of which he'd only resided in for a matter of weeks—any relationships he had were short-lived. Not that looking the way he did would leave him short of company for long.

Squaring her shoulders, she reached into the front of the briefcase he'd mentioned and held out her hand. 'I'll leave my card. When you've had time to think things over—'

'Not gonna happen.'

Olivia stood her ground.

'I take it you can find the door on your own?'

Okay. If he wanted to play hardball, she'd play. Lowering her gaze to his broad chest, she relaxed her shoulders and took a step forward, standing within inches of his large body and slowly lifting her lashes until she was looking deep into dark eyes. She ran her tongue over her lips and smoothed them together, watching his gaze lower and smiling when he frowned. She spoke in a low voice just loud enough for their audience to hear.

Not one of my favorite reads. Enjoyed the storyline but still found the conversations and attraction a bit boring. Not a bad read but still not the best.

In September 2000, a young programmer comes home from a desert festival to learn that his grandfather has died and that he has to return to Thebes - a town which is so isolated that its inhabitants have their own language - in order to clean out the house where his family lived for five generations. While he's there, he runs into Yesim, a Turkish American woman whom he loved as a child, and begins a romance in which past and present are dangerously confused. At the same time, he remembers San Francisco in the wild years of the internet boom, and mourns the loss of Swan, a madman who may have been the only person to understand what was happening to the city, and to the world.

La Farge's ambitious new work considers large worlds and small ones, love, memory, family, flying machines, dance music, and the end of the world.

superb
By lamontcranston
Paul La Farge has managed to craft a wonderful, engaging world, which happily fits into a novel (almost). The parts that have spilled into immersive (online) text are equally delightful.

As Gary Shytengart put it in a September 29, 2011 interview: "i blurbed luminous airplanes because it's amazing. and amazing books aren't written very often. so buy it." [...]

Child of Hyperfiction
By William B. Rodgers
Child of Hyperfiction

Luminous Airplanes is an interesting novel in and of itself but i'm more interested in its roots in hyperfiction.

few readers know that this version of LA is the "child" of LaFarge's hyperfiction of the same name. Meaning that much of it comes from pre-existing text on a web site and then moved over to the paper and digital publications.

the paper novel is not the same as the hyperfiction product. Their texts overlap but they're also different from each other.

LA, the Kindle book, is a digital version of the paper product but not of the hyperfiction.
Kindle does not yet support sophisticated hypertext and you cannot read the hypertext version of LA on your kindle.

LA, the hypertext, lives on an external web site and not in a Kindle book.

check out Jack Well's external cloud document for his commentary trying to put all this in perspective: 'Outline of Reactions to hypertext "novel"; Luminous Airplanes."

Amazon does not support links to external publications such as this one but here's a URL you can paste into your browser ..if it's not edited out:

I Tried
By Book Dork
I desperately wanted to love this novel and it's online component- I really did. I tried.

Praise
- The idea of an epic road trip is always a good thing (see below, though)
- The narrator seriously seems like a cool guy
- Attempting a hypertext kind of concept is definitely innovative
- The whole "two moms" concept is interesting, as were the characters

Problems
- The road trip went by way, way too fast
- The premise for this book, male returns to hometown to sort out a death, has been done many times before. This isn't to say that it can't be done again; it just wasn't really done in a new way.
- The writing wasn't anything spectacular.
- The end was a bit rushed and forced.

I won't list my concerns with the online component as a negative, because this is a review of the book. I must say, though, that I found it a bit tedious and did not have the patience to find the new material I'm assuming is there.

Setting the Table: The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business, by Danny Meyer

In October 1985, at age twenty-seven, Danny Meyer, with a good idea and scant experience, opened what would become one of New York City's most revered restaurants—Union Square Cafe. Little more than twenty years later, Danny is the CEO of one of the world's most dynamic restaurant organizations, which includes eleven unique dining establishments, each at the top of its game. How has he done it? How has he consistently beaten the odds and set the competitive bar in one of the toughest trades around?

In this landmark book, Danny shares the lessons he's learned while developing the winning recipe for doing the business he calls "enlightened hospitality." This innovative philosophy emphasizes putting the power of hospitality to work in a new and counterintuitive way: The first and most important application of hospitality is to the people who work for you, and then, in descending order of priority, to the guests, the community, the suppliers, and the investors. This way of prioritizing stands the more traditional business models on their heads, but Danny considers it the foundation of every success that he and his restaurants have achieved.

Some of Danny's other insights:

  • Hospitality is present when something happens for you. It is absent when something happens to you. These two simple concepts—for and to—express it all.

  • Context, context, context, trumps the outdated location, location, location.

  • Shared ownership develops when guests talk about a restaurant as if it's theirs. That sense of affiliation builds trust and invariably leads to repeat business.

  • Err on the side of generosity: You get more by first giving more.

  • Wherever your center lies, know it, name it, believe in it. When you cede your core values to someone else, it's time to quit.

Full of behind-the-scenes history on the creation of Danny's most famous restaurants and the anecdotes, advice, and lessons he has accumulated on his long and ecstatic journey to the top of the American restaurant scene, Setting the Table is a treasure trove of innovative insights that are applicable to any business or organization.

Applications of Nonverbal Behavioral Theories and ResearchFrom Brand: Psychology Press

This book is intended to accomplish several goals. First, it is designed to provide a broad overview of the major areas of application of theory and research relating to nonverbal behavior. Second, individual chapters emphasize how the applications have been drawn from underlying theories and empirical bases, thereby making the link between theory, research, and applications apparent. Finally, the volume links individual chapter contributions, demonstrating how theoretical progress over the last few decades has led to important applied advances.

The contributors to this book consider a wide variety of settings and topics. Their common thread, however, is a shared conviction that an understanding of nonverbal behavior can bring about an improvement in the human condition. Each of the authors has made suggestions regarding future directions for both research and practice -- and their ideas offer real promise.

"Admissions. Admission. Aren't there two sides to the word? And two opposing sides...It's what we let in, but it's also what we let out."

For years, 38-year-old Portia Nathan has avoided the past, hiding behind her busy (and sometimes punishing) career as a Princeton University admissions officer and her dependable domestic life. Her reluctance to confront the truth is suddenly overwhelmed by the resurfacing of a life-altering decision, and Portia is faced with an extraordinary test. Just as thousands of the nation's brightest students await her decision regarding their academic admission, so too must Portia decide whether to make her own ultimate admission.

Admission is at once a fascinating look at the complex college admissions process and an emotional examination of what happens when the secrets of the past return and shake a woman's life to its core.

From Publishers Weekly
Portia Nathan, the overly dedicated 38-year-old Princeton admissions officer, narrator of Korelitz's overthought fourth novel, finds purpose in her gatekeeper role. But her career and conscience are challenged after she visits a down-at-the-heels New England town on a scouting trip and meets Jeremiah, a talented but rough-around-the-edges 17-year-old who maybe doesn't measure up as Princeton material. The real rub is how making his acquaintance forces Portia to confront a painful secret from her past that ties into some domestic discord with her professor friend, David, and may lead her into a career-endangering fracas with the admissions board. The narrative is slow out of the gate, though it gets some pep once the Jeremiah-Portia angle comes into focus. And even if Portia tends to ruminate in an precious way, Korelitz makes good use of the sociological issues tied up in elite university admissions. (Apr.)

From The New Yorker
Portia Nathan is a thirty-eight-year-old admissions officer at Princeton University, a place so discriminating that it can afford to turn down applicants who are “excellent in all of the ordinary ways” in favor of the utterly extraordinary—“Olympic athletes, authors of legitimately published books, Siemens prize winners, working film or Broadway actors, International Tchaikovsky Competition violinists.” Portia compares her job to “building a better fruit basket” and achieves career success by helping her institution pluck the most exotic specimens, but her personal life is permanently on hold because of a traumatic incident from her own college years that she has never come to terms with. Although the reader may unravel the mystery of Portia’s past before the plot does, the novel gleams with acute insights into what most consider a deeply mysterious process.

From Bookmarks Magazine
Critics hailed Korelitz’s ability to put a human face on what many consider to be a merciless process. Compassionate, vulnerable, and surprisingly likable, protagonist Portia Nathan struck a chord with critics, who described her as “wonderfully complex” (Los Angeles Times) and “utterly real” (Entertainment Weekly). Korelitz, a Dartmouth graduate and former Princeton admissions reader, offers a fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at the college admission process. Critics were split, however, on whether parents with teens should seek out this title. On the one hand, Admission is a helpful guide for parents and students interested in learning about admission etiquette. On the other, the novel may strike terror in the hearts of parents with Ivy League hopes and bright, but unexceptional, children.

"We're all about making citizens of the world."
By E. Bukowsky
"Admission" is a novel that examines the complex process of selecting incoming freshmen for Princeton University from a large pool of eager and often superbly qualified applicants. Jean Hanff Korelitz draws on her experience as an "outside reader" for Princeton to add verisimilitude to her story. She also spoke with deans of admissions and college counselors to gain a broad perspective on what has become, for many, a harrowing and competitive race to the finish line. The protagonist is thirty-eight year old Portia Nathan, who has been a reader in Princeton's Office of Admission for the past decade. She is passionate about her work, identifying with the "kids" whose orange application folders contain a mini-portrait of their backgrounds, accomplishments, and ambitions. It is part of her job to visit feeder schools and deliver a sales pitch to encourage high school juniors and seniors to consider Princeton. Sometimes she manages to recruit a gem during her travels, such as "the Inuit girl from Sitka, Alaska, who'd won Princeton's sole Rhodes scholarship last year."

Unfortunately, Portia is in a rut. She has been living with an English professor for sixteen years, and they have little of substance to say to one another these days. She has few friends and little contact with her sixty-eight year old mother, Susannah, a gregarious do-gooder who spends much of her time volunteering for a host of worthy causes. Unexpectedly, during her visit to the Quest School (whose mission is "to open doors, not close them") in rural New Hampshire, Portia meets a warm and compassionate teacher named John Halsey who remembers her from their days at Dartmouth, as well as Jeremiah Balakian, a seventeen-year-old autodidact who has terrible grades but is a zealous and voracious reader. These encounters will shake up Portia's life in ways that she could never have foreseen.

Korelitz is a fluid writer who provides a minutely detailed view of the whole admissions ordeal--especially what it costs parents and their children in angst, expense, and emotional upheaval. One clever and original touch is the inclusion of an excerpt from a typical college application essay before each chapter. Some of these are cloying, others smack of desperation, and a few are poignant and even profound. The essays convey more about admissions than the author's encyclopedic explanation of every aspect of this incredibly complicated rite of passage.

Although Portia is a likeable and engaging character with enough wit and charm to make us care about her, she cannot carry the book by herself. What eventually sinks "Admission," besides its excessive length, are its one-dimensional secondary characters and its regrettable descent into soap opera. The author expects us to buy two incredible coincidences that induce Portia to take a hard look at the bad decisions she has made. As Portia clumsily deals with the fallout from her mistakes, Korelitz wraps things up disappointingly with a trite and predictable conclusion. The title, "Admission," has a double meaning, referring not only to the college admission process, but also to the importance of admitting painful truths to oneself and our loved ones before it is too late to make things right. It is too bad that Korelitz relies on clichs and heavy-handed plot elements. These keep what could have been a sharp and timely work of contemporary fiction from realizing its full potential.

Fascinating read
By BermudaOnion
I try to avoid spoilers but several people have complained that this review contains them. Of course, those people haven't read the book so they don't know that the movie trailer contains more spoilers than this review does.

Portia Nathan is an admissions officer at Princeton University who is assigned to the Northeast. Her duties include traveling to schools in her area to give presentations on Princeton to high school seniors. On her visit to one school, she encounters a man who remembers her from their days at Dartmouth. She doesn't remember him, but she ends up sleeping with him that evening. Portia's not sure why she did this because she's content enough in her domestic life - she's been living with her longtime boyfriend, Mark, an English professor at Princeton.

As she and Mark are traveling to see Portia's mother for the holidays, Mark tells her that he can't go on and she discovers that he has been having an affair and his other girlfriend is pregnant. He returns to Princeton and Portia continues on to her mother's alone. Upon arrival, Portia finds that her mother has taken in a pregnant seventeen year old and intends to help her raise the baby. All of this news throws Portia into a deep depression that leaves her barely able to function. Things from her past come back to haunt her and she has to deal with a secret from long ago that she'd like to forget.

Because Portia is such an aloof character, I found Admission, by Jean Hanff Korelitz a little slow at the beginning, but once I got into it, I didn't want to put it down. I found the details of the admission process at Ivy League colleges fascinating and found myself thankful that I went to college before U. S. News & World Report started their college rankings. I found that Portia was much more complex than she seemed on the surface and I just had to know what her secret was. Portia's mother, Susannah, was a free-spirit and I enjoyed reading about her. Susannah's the type of woman I admire and love to talk to, but frankly, I'm glad my mother's not like her. Overall, I thought this character driven book was great.

I don't know why some books get published.
By Vita Veritas
Maybe I've gotten spoiled on the crazy idea that novels should have a point, or at least be interesting, because Admissions scrapes by indifferently on both counts. It escapes me how a fiction novel passed by with so many unending, droning tangents about the literal admissions process and why the author (and editor and publisher) thought that anyone would care to read these meandering rants in repeated succession, but there you go. That's the book.

The protagonist is not particularly likable. She seems one of those dull women, in a dull unfullfilling relationship that you see from a distance and wonder why and how anyone would live like that. Well, that's one thing this novel did - explain how people can stand to lead stale, seemingly pointless lives where nothing ever happens, devoid of passions, devoid of excitement and meaning. Halfway through the book I realized literally two things had happened - she boned the guy from Quest and her long time partner got another woman pregnant and ran out on her. (The plot points tend to come out of nowhere, shortly after they are introduced, which is unsatisfying.) I'll repeat - Portia isn't a likable or sympathetic character, and there isn't really much need to empathize with her either. So what's the point? Portia's only passion in life is explaining - repeatedly, in unnecessary minute detail - that Ivy League schools take no joy in rejecting applicants and how guilty she is that people assume otherwise. Literally about 300 pages of the book are spent expounding that point.

I knew I wasn't going to end up anywhere meaningful when I felt no guilt at skipping pages in a novel I'd never read before. The second time Portia's mother Susannah and her ridiculous "tricking a teenager into keeping an unwanted baby" storyline popped up (embarrassingly an unabashed plot device to link back to Portia's own unwanted pregnancy) I didn't even pretend to care about this even less likable character or plotline. I skipped pages with aplomb! I knew I wasn't going to miss anything important or relevant. (How could I? The whole novel itself was seeming unimportant and irrelevant.)

I am going to spoil this book for you because a third of the way through you realize Portia has had an unwanted pregnancy, and the circumstances of that pregnancy are not explained until the point where in any other novel, you'd be at the falling action succeeding the climax. As it became increasingly clear where the novel was going, I lost interest in it and tried to find a spoiler online to avoid actually having to read it, but there wasn't one. So for those in a similar predicament - and for those who should know that this novel really isn't worth reading as it doesn't impart any wisdom, entertainment, or indeed lasting impression at all - I will spoil the ending now. SPOILER, SPOILER, SPOILER. This is the plot - minus about 40,000 words on why admission to Ivy League universities is SO GREAT and SO TERRIBLE.

Portia goes on a recruitment trip and has a one night stand with an old classmate from Dartmouth. Portia's partner of 16 years leaves her for a colleague he knocked up. Portia has a deep dark secret. It's that she got knocked up when she was 20 and gave the kid up for adoption. It turns out Portia's son is the brilliant weird kid she met on the trip. She denies a kid who was admitted in order to give the spot to her son. Admission, you get it? Redemption! She gets fired. She ends up with the one night stand. The end.

You know what bothered me most about this book? Other than the 12 hours I'll never get back? Was that for some reason at the end of the book there's this incredibly self indulgent, arrogant Ask the Author section about why she wrote the book and a "group reading guide" (I assume with the laughably optimistic assumption that one day this book with be required reading for some poor schoolchildren) with about 15 discussion questions. Lol, what nerve.

Global Cities, by Mark Abrahamson

Global Cities examines the distinctive commercial, residential, and spatial features of the major cities of the contemporary world--cities housing the financial and cultural activities that are most consequential for everyone, regardless of where they live. The development of these influential cities is intimately related to the emergence of modern telecommunications, the growth of multinational corporations, the internationalization of economic activity, and the increased movement of cultural symbols and artifacts across national lines.
Accessible to readers with little background in sociology or social science, Global Cities analyzes numerous contemporary issues to illustrate concepts and processes pertaining to the most significant global cities. These concrete examples facilitate students' general understanding and show them the contemporary relevance of the material. The book offers a detailed and multifaceted picture of such leading urban centers as London, New York, Tokyo, and Paris, but also branches out to other important cities in the world. It analyzes both the internal features of the cities and the nature of their connections with each other. Global Cities is ideal for undergraduate courses in urban sociology and other social sciences.

Review
The linkages between cities have become a global network, and nations have become dependent upon their major cities for global connections. In fact, the role and status of cities within their own nations are largely a function of those cities international connections. For the last twently-five years there have been dramatic changes within major cities, and in the relationships between them, caused mainly by increasing globalisation. The changes have been mainly economic or cultural, and one of the writer's principal objectives was to connect these two dimensions. This is a book which places familiar things (e.g. 'Macburgers', and a London rail link) into a larger context, whilst also explaining foreign direct investment (FDI). In conclusion, a diminution in the sovereignty of the nation state has accompanied globalisation, but Abrahamson sees no real alternative to the nation state.Ixfam Development Resources Review.I

New Urban Sociology

Abrahamson's Global Cities is a welcome new book: It provides a truly global perspective on urban life, examining both the economic and cultural dimensions of globalism. It provides especially thorough examinations of immigration and the effects of foreign investment upon global inequality. It is a very well-written book, with little un-necessary jargon.
